After 45 years in storage, Gordon Murray's classic comes to life in high definition. Shot on a 16mm clockwork Bolex camera, these original Master Print films have been lovingly scanned for the digital age by the BBC. As first generation film, duplicated only a handful of times, they offer a degree of detail never seen before.
This iconic British animation, narrated by Brian Cant and with music composed and performed by Freddie Phillips, was the first children's television programme filmed in colour. It was originally broadcast in 1966 and was shown weekly by the BBC for the next 20 years.
